My third grade class I have been interning with are taking the FCAT next week and to say they are anxious is an utter understatement. These kids are horrified of this test. But their teacher has been preparing them for this test since the first day. The following link is a really good and thorough example of how to convey the importance of going back into your passage to find evidence to answer their questions.

The teacher I am with does this with their grammar homework they must complete every night in order to reiterate the concept and make sure that they know that this skill is a must when it comes to comprehension in their reading assessment on the upcoming FCAT. Hopefully, this lesson can be used in one of my future classes to develop my students skills.
That's an awesome lesson plan that I think will be effective for students when it comes to preparing them for the FCAT.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great lesson plan. It is very important for students to go back in the passage to find evidence, even if it includes underlining. I will also like to use this lesson in my future classroom as well. I believe it will really help the students.
ReplyDeleteI gave the lesson to my teacher and we are going to actually try it tomorrow since they start the FCAT on Monday. Hopefully it will help them further understand some of what is expected from them.
ReplyDeleteGreat lesson plan. Going back in the passage to find eveidence always worked for me when I was in school and taking the FCAT and I never failed!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great lesson plan for students taking the FCAT. Luckily, if it is stated in the IEP most ESE students are exempt from the FCAT! I learned that in my field experience classroom. They had to take the Florida Alternative Assessment, FAA, instead, but there are many modifications depending on cognitive level. Isn't that great! Nevertheless, I will definitely have to try this with a class sometime in the future. Thanks for sharing!
